I have a serious problem with Kubuntu: it does not display diacritics
(accent marks) in text files (.doc, .rtf, .txt, .html) which were
created in Windows. I have not found a solution on the web. I need to
fix this as I get a lot of documents from Windows users and 100%
   compatibility is essential.

(web pages are shown OK as the coding is in the page headers).
