I have a friend, that is head of IT for a mid sized company...maybe 20
locations. He does everything with m$ and "point and click" level
   technology.

It pays him well, and all the stores are connected. The management get
their data, and email. The stores get registers, and the customers all
   get their coffee.

   And it works....
