   Since I couldn't get it to recognize the jump drive without the GI I    
   connected the HD to another pc and booted up, copied the xorg.conf that I    
   had put on the jump drive into my home directory, then put the hd back in    
   its regular box and replaced the existing one...   
      
   Ta Da! I can boot up and the GI loads perfectly.   
      
   Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help.
