   > How do I transfer a file from a flash drive to the harddrive via console?

First find out where the flash drive is, something like /dev/sda1
Use the disk free (df) command to find out.

   $df

   My computer shows (among others):
   /dev/hda2 240895 12378 215665 6% /boot
   /dev/hda1 61440556 30344956 31095600 50% /media/hda1
   /dev/sda1 503016 362448 140568 73% /media/KINGSTON

My Kingston drive was auto mounted /dev/sda1 at /media/KINGSTON

Then copy the file named xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
The copy command is (cp) and needs to be done as root (sudo)
Use in place of KINGSTON the name your flash drive has.

   $sudo cp /media/KINGSTON/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf

You are asked for your password and if you want to overwrite the
   existing file, give appropriate answers.

   Restart X.

   Success!
