Thanks--I've had similar problems with new X installs on older monitors and
graphics cards. Sometimes the display is distorted just enough to keep some
buttons and options out of view/access during install/setup.
Related problem on a few older installs: the mouse was available during the
GUI install setup right up to the X install, then it went dead. Now that is
a very frustrating and mysterious showstopper. :)
Workaround for both of these was to avoid doing X install until after doing
a complete install (except for X, obviously). Once the CLI interface was up
and running, there were a lot more tools available (for me) to install X in
the CLI kit.
