   I wrote my story just to demonstrate that   
      
    A) A commandline interface is not a bad thing.   
    B) Even newbies can be very happy with it.

   Which is no different with a GUI. You need to know what's actually   
   happening.

   Then I suggest you start reading manual pages, since they describe   
   pretty well what's going on.

   Not by definition. There are a lot of bad GUIs out there, and there   
   are a lot of programs with bad documentation, GUI or otherwise. On the   
   other hand, it is really easy to read some manual pages and figure out   
   what a certain command is for. Especially in combination with the   
   aforementioned examples, you can learn how to use the command line   
   interface pretty quickly.
