   Many would argue that is a Good Thing (TM) I don't configure any of my   
   NNTP clients to use mail, I have other, better clients for that. That   
   said, it does Send email, but Ive never used the functionality.   
      
   Linux is all about modularity, using the right tool for the right job.   
   Combo tools are generally frowned on just because they never do all   
   things great, they do what they do in a mediocre fashion.
