   My fundamental objection to XNews (a few years ago, may have   
   changed) is that it doesn't handle e-mail. At times it is   
   convenient to post and mail. Also, the source is not available   
   (and if it was it would require the non-free Delphi), and it only   
   runs under Winders. Thunderbird meets all those objections. AFAIK   
   it still has the major bug of not marking cross-posts as read in   
   all newsgroups.
