   I've tried that. The problem still persists after a power cycle. I did    
   find out a bit more. I was able to restore sound by booting with an    
   ancient PCLinuxOS CD I had lying around, but not with a newer PCLinuxOS.    
   I think there was some work done with snd_intel_hda power saving some    
   time between those two versions. Something may be causing power saving to    
   go rogue and ignore the parameters.
