Thunderbird keeps its mail in mbox-format files, one file per mail folder.
   If you look in ~/.thunderbird/xxxxxxxx.default/Mail/pop.server.net/
(where 'xxxxxxxx' is an 8-alphanumeric code and 'pop.server.net' is a
folder for (one of) your pop server(s)), you'll see files with names
like 'Inbox' and 'Inbox.msf', 'Sent' and 'Sent.msf'. The .msf files are
index files for the mail folders: they index the start of each e-mail in
the folder with that name, and the non-.msf file holds the e-mails, one
after another - in other words, the non.msf files equate to Thunderbird's
   mail folders.

All you need to do is copy these non.msf files into your Kmail mail
directory (in the case of my Mandriva 2007 Free, it's in
~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail) - and make sure you don't overwrite any
existing files with the same names.

Make sure Kmail isn't running when you do this. Then, when you restart
Kmail, it will find the new files and index them, and the new folders will
show up in the left-hand pane.
