I prefer mplayer to Ubuntu's default media player Totem and told Nautilus
to open all kinds of media file types with mplayer (via the "Open With"
dialog). However, Ubuntu still tries to start (the already 'apt-get
remove'd!) Totem on many occasions, for example when clicking a video
link in Firefox or double-clicking a file of a type that I did not yet
associate with mplayer. Is there a way to make mplayer the default "Movie
Player" (as Ubuntu refers to Totem in countless error messages) and
completely purge Totem from my system?

   Thanks,
   Rehceb
