   Download and burn the LiveCD image of Ubuntu.   
   http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download?action=show&redirect=download   
      
   Boot your PC from the CD and run Ubuntu.    
      
   This way, you do not affect your current set up at all. You can then see for   
   yourself how good it is. I think it's brilliant by the way. But that is   
   just my opinion.   
      
   This will also mean you can see what hardware it picks up and doesn't. The   
   majority of your hardware will just run. If not, there are some helpful   
   people both here and ubuntu forums who can ease any hardware/software   
   problems for you, should you decide to install fully.
