Yup. I've experienced that with Firefox too in my Edgy days.

The problem seems to have disappeared in Feisty with firefox release 2.0.0.2
(currently firefox-bin is sleeping with 116mb usage. Not brilliant, but
it's half ther usage I used to see with 2.0.0.1 under Edgy)

The Netowrk Admin interface is a little odd. In my case, I would prefer
the "roaming" to actually be able to pick up the SSID's associated WEP keys
rather than ignoring them. It should be fairly easy to generate a look up
on stored profiles and connect to the one in range.
