   Hi all,

I switched to ubuntu (6.06) after many years of redhat/mandrake/mandriva
   distributions.

My question is the following. On my old systems, usually runlevels had the
   following meaning:
   1: single user mode (failsafe)
   2: multiuser without network
   3: full system without X
   4: free
   5: full system with X
   6: halt

So, if usually I started in 5 and once, for some reason, I wanted to start
without X, it was enough to start in runlevel 3.

On the other hand, in ubuntu all runlevel from 2 to 5 are set to the same
   values.
So how can I choose at boot time to start without X?
Moreover, I used lilo. In grub, how do I choose the runlevel?

   Thank you for your attention
