Oh, I don't agree with that. Bill Gates has been obsessed over piracy for
a long time, maybe because he is one:

   http://www.digitalresearch.biz/index.htm

Gates has long been moaning over pirated copies of Windows being used
everywhere, but especially in the Third World. Vista goes a long ways
towards locking up the holes that allowed Windows to be pirated. I can't
blame Bill for wanting to protect his intellectual property, but better
believe he marches in lockstep with the RIAA and SAG over DRM. It's a
win-win situation for them - HOWEVER, as long as "holes" in the DRM
system like Linux and Mac (and old versions of Windows) remain, there
will be war. Tha's why I expect that, once Vista is firmly entrenched (3
years maybe?) that Microsoft will finally go after Linux with no holds
   barred.

Microsoft's vision is one day your computer will merely be a dumb
terminal that has to connect with the Microsoft servers to do anything.
Access to software and the OS will depend on that connection. Vista takes
the first step toward that, with Microsoft having the ability to cripple
programs and the OS if something unkosher is found.
