   Well,  I've done it.  I have hacked up my JamNNTPd source to use TLS on   
   connection.  Though getting Thunderbird to connect was a bit of a challenge   
   until I figured out how to add an override to my CACert signed certificate.   
      
   In short - before I fall asleep for the night - TLS 2048bit - works. Now I   
   just need to write some cleaner code and include some config options and   
   DEFINE statements in the make file.   
      
   Anyway,  server is open for testing,  be sure your NNTP client support   
   SSL/TLS.   ssalpha.dyndns.org:5000   
      
   I'll update here as I fix the code further.
