   ButOfCourse and i kinda knew that, too... but even though i compiled my   
   version of jamnntpd, i don't know the code and would not be able to add the   
   necessary tweaks... i know it is simple, though... add the command line and   
   config file option and then a simple wrapper tweak around the current dns   
   lookup code...   
      
   frankly i'm very surprised that this hasn't been done already... it was one   
   of the very first things i learned about when i started running my web   
   servers... the dns name can be fiddled with by those that run their own dns   
   servers and so is untrustworthy... consider a connection from out of the   
   country that returns a dns name of "localhost"... so you are looking at your   
   logs and see "localhost" for the connection and ya start freakin... gimme   
   the IP and always the IP... i will do the lookup later if i want/need to ;)   
      
   FWIW: i haven't received tommi's post yet... not unless it has arrived while   
   i was reading this area... i was rather surprised as tommi's messages have   
   normally been arriving here before yours...
