      CMake isn't a "make system", it's a build system[1]; something like   
   autotools/automake, except that it's cross platform. It "generates native   
   makefiles and workspaces that can be used in the compiler environment of your   
   choice" from "platform and compiler independent configuration files"; on MS   
   Windows, this includes MS Visual Studio project files. I understand that it is   
   available for OS/2 [2], though I've no current way of testing it myself as I   
   haven't used OS/2 for years.   
    Associated tools can be used for distribution archives and installers (CPack)   
   as well as for a testing framework (CTest).
