      That is pretty obvious. It's unfortunate that JoHo and Mats Wallin left   
   Fidonet so soon after they developed the Jam message base, or we would   
   probably have a load of maintenance tools for it by now.   
      
      It's enough that you get one bad message among the tens of thousands that   
   you may have, to make e.g. a purge program fail.   
      
      But FrontDoor can't even handle a Jam message base with more than 16k   
   messages in it...

      I use Johan Billings crashmail program to do all the maintenance. I've   
   successfully purged quite a few of my echoes some time ago, but I no longer do   
   it -- it's too unreliable.
