   i saw it and replied to it... why are you trying to put TO: whomever as the   
   first line of the message when you reply in your newsreader? that's not   
   something that needs to be done... i've never done it and make public and   
   private responses all the time if the necessary information is available in   
   the control lines in the message that jamnntpd sends me...

   no... besides, jamnntpd will reformat the reply messages when they come back   
   into fidonet so that they fit the fidonet style... that means putting the   
   initials and removing the extras so that something like

   to make a public reply, you simply followup to the group... no email needed...   
   no TO: line as first in the body... no nothing...   
      
   to make a private reply, you simply make a reply and the email address is   
   placed in the To: field just like any other email replies... your news reader   
   will then send that private reply to the user@the.domain and that system   
   should then handle it as normal email from there...   
      
   to make a public reply and also send it as private email, then there's one   
   line containing the newsgroup and another containing the email address... all   
   of this is handled automatically by your reader... all the magic is already   
   done for you...   
      
   then there's sending netmail and that's a bit different... it may be that you   
   need to change the name of the group to the bbs' defined netmail group... this   
   might require an additional line but i do not recall such... i might be able   
   to test this later with some of your posts... depends on how i feel later...
