Hi! Ross,              On Mon, 11 Jun 12, you wrote to me:               PQ>> I could test your proposal, if you'd like. What's your        PQ>> deadline? (Yesterday?)               RC> I tried Crashmail II on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit...        RC> I installed the 32 bit libs..        RC> I installed Crashmail II from Ubuntu's package manager        RC> I installed Jamnntpd as compiled from source..              Well, I've had a different server running near-24/7 since August last year.        Different system entirely, under Puppy linux and compiled for Puppy. BTW,       CrashMail on _both_ systems is still executing the same original July '04       executable...              At about that time (6 August), I grabbed the JamNNTPd source straight off of       Johan's website...               https://bitbucket.org/johanbilling/jamnntpd/downloads              Then I compiled it on this host's 32-bit Ubuntu 09.04 LTS, however I didn't       proceed any further with it until I installed the whole sheebang in the       Xubuntu vBox (but never executed). I've started it up this arvo (no       complaints in the log file). I'll let the entre combo run over night and test       it in the morning with Thunderbird, and report later tomorrow.               RC> I brought over message base and cfgs from prior linux box.              Same here. I transplanted a subset of echoes into the fledgeling messagebase,       set up a new config file, and then let fly with CM to flesh it out from there.               RC> Reading node cfgs, msgbase and golded brought over from prior linux        RC> box, which also serviced by crashmail II.              Check.               RC> All I had to do was edit the cfgs to the new path structures and fire        RC> it all up.              Check.               RC> Crashmail was able to write to the message base, but not scan from        RC> it.              Oops. My newbie Xubuntu LTS vBox isn't reporting any problems, and is       _exporting_ to a further ghost system that doesn't yet exist (the outbound is       filling nicely).               RC> Jammntpd was not reading from it, nor was Golded on the pvt node        RC> message base..              Mmm... so far GoldEd is fine though sometimes it developes a brain-fart using       the L)ist option when browsing an echo (not all, only some echoes). I don't       use the vBox for reading so it's not an issue at present.               RC> I deleted both message bases, ran the checkgroups script, nope no        RC> joy..              Check.               RC> I moved the server over to the XP box, were it shall stay for now..              Check.               RC> I then decided to install the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.              Check. (Smart move.)               RC> I put my pvt node up, this time I compiled crashmail II from        RC> source...              Check. (Try the original binaries, if you got'em.)               RC> Partially successful, but message headers had mangled addresses.        RC> Golded acting hinky..              Check. (GoldEd, as per above. I have not seen any mangled headers; that's a       new one.)               RC> I ended up compiling the husky source and thats solving the problem        RC> for my pvt node.              Good luck with that lot. They've managed to up-f@ck a beautiful idea with       their recent/latest stuff.              Cheers,       Paul.              ---         * Origin: Bad command. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay!
