Hi! Michiel,              On 27 Mar 12 13:09, you wrote to me:               MV>>> Mind you my setup is for Codepage 850 as the native character        MV>>> set. For Codepage 437 you have to modify the transalation        MV>>> tables.        PQ>> We're not talking about anything at the DOS level at all are we?               MV> Sort of. I am talking about the active code page for the command line        MV> window. Either pure DOS or the command line interface of Windows.              Ah, that's the niggling thought I had...               MV> You can see what the active code page is, when you type "CHCP" at the        MV> command line. If your active codepage is 437, you will only see a few        MV> rarely used characters wrong.              I had forgotten all about "CHCP". I did quite a few searches in my text files       but couldn't locate anything other using "MODE CON /STATUS", which didn't work       or told me that it couldn't.              It looks as though the xlat settings in GoldEd may override that in any case,       as a guess, since GoldEd was able to see Tommi's original test post correctly.              Thanks again, Michiel.              Cheers,       Paul.              ...
