      I've done some limited research on the JamNNTPd source code, and I can not   
   find a single trace of anything there that would add that additional space   
   (but yes I've seen it happen many times).   
      
      I think I have to go with Tommi and mark here, and blame it on your client.   
      
      Or just take it as a man and simply remove those extra spaces if you insist   
   on quoting text, like I always do... 8-)
