   That's what I've been thinking all afternoon/evening... here.  Just 10 mins   
   ago I was exasperated enough to view the prefs file in DOS's EDIT, thinking   
   that screen fonts in linux/Windows GUI editors were telling untruths.  Still   
   nothing out of the ordinary.   
      
   Would you care to have look at the prefs file?
