firstly, thanks for the other information that i trimmed out... i've made note
   of it for future reference...

on the email thing... peter submitted a change back in Nov 2009 to fix the
email address to be more like the standard email template... i was just
   looking over that code yesterday...

so if the address has a point number, 1:3634/12.73, it gets written as
73@12.3634.1 and if there's no point number, a zero is placed such that
1:3634/12 is written as 0@12.3634.1... one cannot send email/netmail responses
to news postings with that type of address but it should fix the problem of
invalid addresses causing the "quoted -> names" to show properly... even if
the "->" has to be changed to "to" or "(to)" or similar...

what i do not see in relation to this is if or how jamnntpd converts back to a
valid fidonet address when a post is made... one should be able to crosspost a
private response to the NETMAIL area and that should be converted to a proper
private netmail on the FTN side... there is something where jamnntpd does
place a To: name based on the "fromname -> toname" of the original post when a
reply is made... i'm suspecting that something similar with the above address
   format should also be done...
