      Now I've learned something new. Rather than deleting a lot of text when   
   quoting, I usually mark the line(s) that I want to comment. But then the   
   circumflex disappears.   
      
      When doing it the usual way (deleting all unnecessary text from the quote)   
   the circumflex remains intact.
