   My long-term intention is to shuck-off all ties with M$ software, you see.    
   Though, I'm considering hanging on to a new HP desktop with Win 8.1, purely   
   for occasional gaming.  Any serious computing will be done by running various   
   linux VMs, particularly when interacting with 'the internet'.   
      
   I've already worked up through most of the learning curve with linux-ie stuff,   
   so, I can make a smooth transition to running a more stable node in linux than   
   the old DOS-based currently is.
