   There is a slim chance that it might be related to the VM.  I mention it as I   
   have a vaguely-related problem with my Win98se VM, where GoldEd/W32 is useless   
   for writing netmails as it mangles addresses (names are fine, just the   
   addresses are screwed).  Yet writing netmails with SemPoint (an old 16-bit   
   Windows app) in the same VM works excellently.
