Hello Roger.

   JD> > DOS 6.1? Eeeww!
    RN>
JD> Maybe it was 6.2. Whatever the last version of MS Dos was. I used it
JD> for a long time with Lantastic to connect the computers, and of course
JD> a program whose name escapes me at the moment, to multitask.
    RN>
RN> It most likely was DOS 6.22. There was a v7 after that, but I
RN> didn't bother with it. I can't think of the name of that program
RN> either because I only used it for a short time. I think it was
    RN> DESQview.

Yes. DESQview was one of several multitaskers for DOS, and probably the most
powerful and fully developed. It was preemptive mutitasking and put windoze
to shame. We ran 4 or 5 nodes of the NOPCC BBS along with the mail tosser,
   etc under DOS/DV... on a 150MHz Dx4 machine with 8 or 16 megs of RAM - plus
LANtastic to link up the CDROM server. Took a _LOT_ of tuning of the
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to do that. But it did an awesome job - -
   just no TCP/IP capability.

   Best regards,
   Marc
