   Because the newly-compiled binkD executables kept failing.  I was using an   
   older Linux that was un-upgradable, unless the admin wanted to trip through   
   more hoop tests than any benefit perceived to be derived by the exercise.    
   Short version: it just wasn't worth the goddam hassle.   
      
   The eventual node turned out to be... oh, look... it's this one!  Yay!
