   Hi Al!

BM> Did a Google Search for "Music Radio". One of the options that came up
BM> was to Pandora Radio (that name sounds dangerous -- if I see a GK or
    BM> whatever a Greece source is....!!). Think it's www.Pandora.com,
BM> otherwise 72.14.203.104. Can create your own radio station ==> music
BM> styles. Not sure how it's doing it or where the music is coming from
BM> but so far not too bad!

AI> This is something I haven't used much. In linux I use amarok
AI> (similar but not the same as WMP). In the playlist menu there is
AI> an option for radio station and podcasts. It needs some kind of
AI> url but I'm not sure what to put in there. If you ever have your
AI> live cd running you could try it out. xmms (still looks like the
AI> original winamp) also can play streams though I haven't tried it.

And here I thought you had all the answers! The "problem" may be in
the source, or the way it's listed. Had been listening to "WOLF FM"
(www.wolffm.com) -- think I found it originally playing around with
music searches but never was able to find it again. (They offer a
desktop icon which loads a small window with some advertising. This
then starts up WMP. You can then close the first window and WMP
   continues the connection.

Pandora (www.Pandora.com) doesn't seem to have the desktop loader thing
   - so far have been running Firefox typing in the address, let it load
the Pandora stuff and minimize the window to show the curret and
previous two songs. Presume *NIX's browser woul dbe able to do the
same. (But will their software run under *NIX?) ....

Q: What is required to use Pandora?

Pandora works on Windows 2000 and XP with Internet Explorer 6 and
Firefox. It also works on the MacOS X 10.3+ with Safari and Firefox.
Flash 7 or 8 is required (8 recommended). We recommend a machine with at
least a 1Ghz processor and 256M of RAM. You'll also need speakers or
headphones. Older desktop computers may need a sound card. A broadband
Internet connection is required; dialup is not supported.
Q: What bitrate is the music you play?

We play 128Kbps streams. Pandora requires a broadband Internet
   connection.
