You'd be surprised at how many places COX manages to weasel images into,
they've got their filthy 8==) thumbs all over the place. Comcast is a much more
brutal ISP however, and they will monitor you sending you a message if
necessary. It may start as an email, but it might escalate to ISIS level scare
tactics should the problem specifically or generally get out of hand.

They are already watching and beaming all the data via laser onto a giant hard
drive on the moons surface, all data, everywhere. Who's in power is just an
   illuminati facade and certain laws only apply to certain classes of hackers;
bbs's will be the last bastion of freedom for those who can spread their data
all over the moon such that a destruction of the lunar index file in the 9
expected backup centers will nearly erase any potential trace of detecting the
meaning in the data. Generating white noise at the proper frequencies with
appropriate filters/keys will allow you to operate even as the ISP's bombard
with you with un-needed junk-male or make veiled threats on your person. It
can never hurt to wear a tinfoil hat and at the very least carry a katana
   blade.

Seriously though, I'm joking - although some people may find it compelling
explanation. If you've got a basic home subscription on one of those ISP's
some people these days do have just an understanding of the internet being
going on the web and browsing and having the shit that they buy work. Anyhow,
in a way you just could set a bare minimum of services as far as what people
expect. You start with the assumption that people have no service whatsoever
and go from there. Then they get service, what do you give them access to
accept incoming and outgoing connections, is that contingent on a limit and if
so what determines that limit if needed, let's say how much you pay. This is
already the case in certain circumstances, but I guess it could get taken to an
extreme. Maybe something like any open port below 1024 cost a bunch of money
to open or wasn't be able to open period. Then you could have some sort
oligarchy of have's and have nots who could afford to run their own web server,
making stupid companies more powerful. If the ISP's thought the BBS's were a
threat to their dominance monetarily they surely could and would take measures
to increase their bottom line were it substantial.

I'm actually extremely uninformed on the issue as far as reading up goes, so
I'm shooting from the hip here, just winging it basically. I'm a moron.
