      CHRS: CP437 2       MSGID: 1:18/200@fidonet 668dcb51       PID: MBSE-BBS 1.1.0 (Linux-x86_64)       TZUTC: -0500       TID: MBSE-FIDO 1.1.0 (Linux-x86_64)       MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06                Title: Homemade Apple Cider Beef Stew        Categories: Beef, Potatoes, Vegetables, Fruits, Herbs        Yield: 8 servings                2 lb Beef stew meat; in 1" cubes        2 tb Canola oil        3 c Apple cider or juice        14 1/2 oz Can beef broth        2 tb Cider vinegar        1 1/2 ts Salt        1/2 ts Dried thyme        1/4 ts Pepper        3 md Potatoes; peeled, diced        4 md Carrots; in 3/4" pieces        3 Celery ribs; in 3/4" pieces        2 md Onions; in wedges        1/4 c A-P flour        1/4 c Water        Fresh thyme sprigs; opt                In a Dutch oven, brown beef on all sides in oil over        medium-high heat; drain. Add the cider, broth, vinegar,        salt, thyme and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat;        cover and simmer for 1 1/4 hours.                Add the potatoes, carrots, celery and onions; return to        a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30-35 minutes        or until beef and vegetables are tender.                Combine flour and water until smooth; stir into stew.        Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until        thickened.
