   MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06   
       
         Title: Peppernuts Cookies (Pfeffernusse)   
    Categories: Cookies, Herbs, Nuts   
         Yield: 150 Servings   
       
     1 1/2 c  Brown sugar   
         1 lg Egg   
       1/2 c  Crisco   
       3/4 ts Salt   
       3/4 c  White sugar   
       1/2 ts Nutmeg   
       1/2 ts Anise oil   
       3/4 ts Cinnamon   
       3/4 ts Baking soda   
              +=DISSOLVED IN=+   
       1/2 c  Hot strong coffee   
       1/4 ts Cloves   
         1 c  Pecans; ground   
         6 c  (to 8 c) A-P flour *   
       
     Cream sugars and shortening well.   
        
     Mix in anise oil and egg.   
        
     Add coffee solution.   
        
     Add salt and spices to 1 cup of flour and sift.   
        
     Mix into batter.   
        
     Add ground pecans and enough of the remaining flour   
     to make a stiff dough.   
        
     * I've never had to use more than 6 cups of flour.   
        
     Roll into dime-size rolls, place on tray and chill.   
        
     Cut thin, spread on baking sheet and bake @ 325ºF/165ºC   
     to 350ºF/175ºC for 10 minutes or until hard.   
        
     Makes: Lots
