Most of its active members are my age or       older. Folks don't have the money, aren't interested, or because they       disagree with a lot of what ARRL is doing, aren't joining, or letting       their memberships lapse. Other clubs and organizations memberships,       especially for a "Life Membership" are far cheaper than what ARRL wants.               I told them "$1100 a month on disability doesn't go far...so, you're       wasting your time sending me mail and email asking for money for The       Diamond Club, Spectrum Defense, etc.". I don't even order items from The       ARRL Store, unless I'm going to do a forum at a hamfest (extremely rare       nowadays), and will raffle off something, like The ARRL Operating       Manual. At least you can get 25 of a certain item (like an information       brochure) for free with an order.               I still have the older frequency charts without the 2200 or 630 meter       bands...because most folks will be going for their Technician License at       a license exam session. The only real times I've seen folks interested       in taking an exam is right before a certain element Question Pool and       resulting exams, are to change...such as the General this July...the       Extra in July, 2020...then they take a year off (2021)...then the       Technician again in 2022.               I also switched my sessions to "pre-registration required", with a       deadline to register of 48 hours before the session. That way, the VE's       don't go out there for nothing.              Daryl, WX4QZ, UALR Ham Radio Club VE Team Liaison              ===        þ OLX 1.53 þ A guy who's addicted to brake fluid can stop any time.       --- SBBSecho 3.07-Win32        * Origin: FIDONet: The Thunderbolt BBS - tbolt.synchro.net (1:19/33)       SEEN-BY: 1/120 123 15/0 2 18/0 200 19/33 36 38 75 34/999 90/1 104/57       SEEN-BY: 106/201 116/18 116 120/302 331 123/0 25 50 120 140 150 755       SEEN-BY: 124/5014 5016 128/2 130/803 135/300 153/7715 154/10 20 30       SEEN-BY: 154/40 700 203/0 218/700 221/0 1 6 360 222/2 226/16 17 227/400       SEEN-BY: 229/200 312 354 426 728 1014 230/150 152 240/1120 5832 249/206       SEEN-BY: 249/317 400 250/1 261/38 100 266/512 267/155 275/100 280/5003       SEEN-BY: 282/1031 1056 291/1 111 292/854 8125 301/520 317/3 320/119       SEEN-BY: 320/219 322/757 335/364 340/400 800 342/13 200 387/21 393/68       SEEN-BY: 396/45 712/848 801/161 189 2320/105 3634/0 12 15 24 27 50       SEEN-BY: 3634/119 5020/1042 31999/99       PATH: 19/33 396/45 261/38 3634/12 154/10 221/6 1 292/854 229/426           |
