   i'm sitting here with an 8-core 4Ghz system... i regularly see the splash   
   screen... there isn't much there of interest... it only last a few seconds on   
   first start with several thousands of posts in the message bases.. i'm talking   
   about some 200 message bases with a minimumm of three years posts in them...   
   once the files are loaded in the cache, it doesn't stay up longer than a   
   second or two... that's even after several hours have elapsed with new mail   
   having arrived... the screen doesn't show anything interesting at all anyway...
