i just discovered that the 'F'ind function seems to be broken in the latest       golded+... this is the first time that i've really needed/wanted to use it...       i was looking for messages from a certain individual but none were ever       found... i was searching, with 'F', for 'john smith' without the quotes...       nothing would be found... even if i was currently on a message to or from john       smith... if i searched for just 'john' or just 'smith' then it worked...       apparently the search doesn't work with spaces??              the second thing i found that doesn't seem right is that 'F'ind only looks       from the current message to the last message... there's no option to search       from the first message to the last... that really should be fixed... maybe to       always search from the first message to the last or to offer an option of       'all' or 'new' to search... it is rather painful to have to enter each message       area, jump to the first message, then 'F'ind, then manually move to the next       message to 'F'ind again...              and that brings me to the last ugly... it would be extremely nice is the       'F'ind would offer an option for areas to search... tagged, all, or current...       with over 200 areas, painful in the above statement is just being nice :)              oh yeah, these options should also apply to the 'Z - look in headers only'       option...              THOUGHTS:       the two separate search functions could be combined into one 'F'ind or       'S'earch option where several search phrases can be put into a search set and       there could be multiple search sets looked for with the choices of 'all' or       'new' messages in 'all', 'tagged' or 'current' message areas... selecting       which header fields to look in as well as the body of the message is a really       good thing, too...              eg:        search for:        "john smith" in the FROM: field AND        "jane doe" in the TO: field        in 'all' messages in the current area               OR               search for:        "jane smith" in the FROM: and TO: fields AND        "john doe" in the FROM: and TO: fields AND        "meeting your cousin" in the SUBJ: field AND        "vinnie" in the message body                     in another reader (now open source and also written in C/C++), you hit the       search key which opens a window with a list of "search sets" to look for...       you hit INSert to add a new search set... that opens a window where you input       your search phrases for this search set... each search phrase has options that       apply only to it... type in the first phrase, "john smith", and hit enter...       that opens the options toggle list for this phrase... choices are               B - msg body        F - FROM:        T - TO:        S - SUBJ:        K - kludges        ----- plus -----        W - whole words only        C - case sensitive        ! - should NOT be present (cannot be used with more than one field)              once you have toggled the options that apply to the current phrase, you hit       ESC to go back to the phrases list window so you can enter more phrases and       toggle the options for them... these phrases are AND searches... the first       "search for" example above would look like this in the phrases list...                      phrases options        ------------------------------        john smith -F--- ---        jane doe --T-- ---                     so we're looking for "john smith" in the FROM: field AND "jane doe" in the TO:       field... hit ESC to return to the list of search sets... that window now looks       like this...                      1. john smith (-F--- ---) & jane doe (--T-- ---)                      --------------------------- search options ------------------------------        AREAS: ALL MESSAGES: ALL DIRECTION: FORWARD        ACTION: READ        =========================================================================        ENTER= Edit INS= Add Item ALT-O= search Options CTRL-ENTER= search                     if you have another search set to be looked for at the same time during this       execution, hit the INSert key to add it with its phrases and their options...       these additional searche sets are OR searches... searchset1 OR searchset2 OR       searchset3              hitting the 'O'ptions key from the search sets window brings up the following       list of options to perform with the search sets...               AREAS : Current or All or Tagged        MSGS : New or All        DIR : Forward or Backward        ACTION : Read or Mark or Delete or Write or Copy or Move               Read let's you read the messages as they are found...        Mark tags the messages for later functions...        Delete deletes the messages... maybe with confirmation?        Write saves the messages to a given file name...        Copy copies the messages to a selected area...        Move moves the messages to a selected area...              these options apply to all matching messages found in the sets... when Read is       selected and a matching message is found, you land in the normal reading mode       and can perform most all normal functions... you cannot search again because       you are already in a search... when you are finished reading a message, you       can hit ESC to abort the search and return to the search sets listing window       OR you can hit the next key to go to the next matching message in the       search... you can only go forward through the search results which are already       chosen by the DIRection of the search... you can hit ESCape at any time to       abort the search and return to the search sets list window... if you want to       edit a search set, you hilight it and hit enter... to edit a phrase, hilight       it and hit enter... you always land in the fields selection list when you hit       the ENTER key while in the phrase entry field... you can ESC the phrase entry       field to not change any of the current phrase or its settings...              in the search sets listing window, the two example searches from above would       look like this...                      1. john smith (-F--- ---) & jane doe (--T-- ---)        2. jane smith (-FT-- ---) & john doe (-FT-- ---) & meeting your cousin (---S-       ---) & vinnie (B---- ---)                      --------------------------- search options ------------------------------        AREAS: ALL MESSAGES: ALL DIRECTION: FORWARD        ACTION: READ        =========================================================================        ENTER= Edit INS= Add Item ALT-O= search Options CTRL-ENTER= search                     both sets will be searched for at the same time... not one set and then the       other... messages are displayed in the order they are found no matter which       set they match...              )\/(ark              ...
