Hello Paul,              03 Dec 13 10:37, you wrote to me:               PQ> Go ahead & laugh. I am happy for you. ;-) I'm a cranky old man, and        PQ> am loving it.              I wasn't lauging at all. Just letting you know where current development was       at, is all. If 1.07.3 works for you, as it did for many others for years while       the developer was MIA, that's all that matters.               NB>> Now there's a built in binkp mailer, tosser, telnet server with        NB>> daemon mode (added to the linux version), NNTP server, QWK over        NB>> FTP networking, and a bunch more.               PQ> Unnecessary fluff for a BBS, though I do appreciate the intergration        PQ> aspect. If I wanted an intergrated, multi-function, thing on Linux        PQ> then I'd shoot for a MBSE setup more vigorously. Then again, the need        PQ> isn't there; no potential users, you see. All of mine are happy with        PQ> either email or NNTP, alone.              Just makes it easier to do everything in one shot. When it comes to a BBS, of       course. No need to run 6 separate servers when you can run them all in one       executable. Granted, you won't get the same kind of detailed configuration,       usually. Since the separate servers tend to only focus on one thing, which is       what it is intended for.               NB>> Unfortunately, one little quirk got in the way of using GoldEd        NB>> with it for the time being.               PQ> Probably because GoldEd may not be the best choice for an external        PQ> reader/editor. It is really intended as a sysop tool, not as a part        PQ> of a BBS config. There may be (dunno) better external door doovers        PQ> for use with a BBS.              I wasn't using it as an external editor, but rather just sharing the JAM       message bases between the two. GoldEd reads and writes to those areas the       right way, and it seems Mystic has a quirk where it stores and reads the       kludge lines in and from the body of the message, and not the header -- which       is wrong. So when you post a message with GoldEd, the message gets send out       with no kludge lines. That can't be good. :)               PQ> Don't let me stop you though. Have fun at it!              Tinkering when I have the time. Gaming when I don't feel like tinkering. That       about sums up computer usage these days. Family life takes up most of my time,       so the hobbies always get pushed away until I can make time for 'em. Such is       life. :)              Regards,       Nick              --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5-b20130910        * Origin: Dark Sorrow | bbs.darksorrow.us (1:154/701)    |
