RB>>> I know you didn't want to hear that, but taglines are the bane of
RB>>> my existence and I've hated them almost as long as I've run a node.

RW>> Well, to some people they're all that matter. To me, well, taglines
RW>> haven't worked in GoldEd for so long, I thought I'd ask why.

RB> Well, I've never used them, but in Golded User's Guide, page 11,
    RB> there's a description, and in GoldED Reference, page 83, there's some
RB> more, including an interesting keyword:

    RB> TAGLINESUPPORT (yes)

RB> Allows you to turn off the internal tagline support, in
RB> case it turns out to be too buggy or if you want to use one of
RB> the many good external tagline utilties out there instead.

Yes, I have that in the CFG file and set to 'yes'...I've tried it both
ways, yes and no and it doesn't do anything.

RB> Don't know if this could be a problem, as the default is "yes", but
RB> it might be worthwhile looking at.

RB> I assume you have both the user's guide and the reference files, but
RB> if not, I could send them to you.

I don't have anything of that nature here. I guess I'll have to go back to
the GoldED source and download those too. Gee, I thought I knew this
program, since I've been using it since 1995...

RW>> Dunno why, but GoldEd's kludge isn't exactly what I expected from
RW>> it, since this is the newest version known to man, in this echo
RW>> anyway. That line doesn't reflect that, IMO.

RB> The W32 seems normal, but I'm not sure where the MSVC comes from.
RB> Probably something added by whoever compiled the source.

Yeah, but it isn't telling me all of the story. There's a version number
and date missing, which isn't reflected here either, GoldED+/W32-MSVC...

RB>>> You'll hate me for these comments, but I just couldn't help myself.

RW>> Not really. Everyone has their preferences and opinions. I try to
RW>> let them be, if they don't bother me and my opinions.

    RB> Good attitude.

    RB> Cheers, Bob

RB> P.S. Weren't you trying to use a tagline file? Are you sure the path
    RB> is OK?

RB> I use relative paths because I run GoldED Win over my internal
RB> network using the OS/2 messagebase, so my paths look like this:

RB> // Path to the template files. Defaults to the GOLDPATH.
    RB> TEMPLATEPATH \FIDO\BIN\GOLDED\

RB> So whether the drive letter is d: or z: or anything else, this always
    RB> works.

   Interesting...the path here is E:\GED\TMP\

GED is the GOLDPATH folder and TMP is a folder with templates in it.

   And that doesn't work either.
