   Using 'tee' can help a lot.   
      
   'gedlnx | tee output.txt' works but ANSI color codes are captured so you'd    
   need to look at the output in an ANSI-capable viewer.   
      
   I'm using GoldEd+ under Slackware 15 without issues.
