   It's not about translation tables, but about displaying the text. Ncurses has   
   special logic to output pseudo-graphics and it most probably won't work   
   correctly in Unicode locale. It was kinda "working" just because ncurses   
   "thought" that it worked in "legacy" mode, not unicode.
