   Depends on your terminal type and your charset settings.   
      
   It's the normal way to indicate an empty fillable field and should remind how   
   many space is left.   
      
   My golded shows boxed frames for available space. Maybe you know midnight   
   commander that can show continuous menu frames or seperated frame simulation
