   That's the Windows version number.   
      
   The NT line of Windows don't have real DOS, they run a virtual machine (NTVDM)   
   that's derived from MS-DOS 5.   
      
   Also, don't confuse the console with DOS - Windows has a native command line   
   interface (ie. text mode programs that use the Windows API).
