   gecho has a lot of anti-hacking code stuffs in it... doing much of anything to   
   alter the binaries could easily trigger them and prevent it from running...   
   that was one of the big controversies back in the day just before gerard   
   disappeared... he had all this anti-hacking stuff in place and was caught   
   hacking someone else's program(s)... really stirred up the goo and he was   
   dumped from several beta teams for that...
