   Hi Nicholas,

On 2016-11-22 09:07:48, you wrote to me:

WV>> FMail adds a "RESCANNED" kludge line to rescannend messages but
    WV>> that's not a documented standard afaik. And I don't know any
WV>> software, including FMail, that considers it when tossing incoming
    WV>> pkt files.

NB> I believe HPT adds that same kludge line, but I'm unsure as to whether or
NB> not it actually honors it.

   I just found: http://ftsc.org/docs/fsc-0057.003

It's a proposal for an AreaFix standard (although that word isn't used in
there, so I couldn't find it at first).
The RESCANNED kludge is mentioned in there. FMail doesn't follow it exactly
anymore though, because the kludge now has the same format as the VIA kludge
in netmail. Also showing the date/time stamp when the message was rescanned.
Which I think is valuable information if you encounter a RESCANNED kludge
   later on...

    NB> That's why I just didn't bother. I don't really care about the
NB> retention so much. It will build itself back up eventually. And this
NB> time around, I think I'll be weeding out the ones with no traffic for
NB> 6 months, so I can trim down to a more manageable number of echos.

NB> I had though the NAB (or Ross since he takes care of the backbone.na) did
NB> this at one time, but I haven't seen anything lately.

Ross seems to be quiet lately. I don't know if that is because he's constantly
biting his lips, or if he has found other interests? ;)

   Bye, Wilfred.
