   That shouldn't make a difference, because the \ is in the same place for both.   
   But you could try setting it to 437 with the 'chcp 437' command in your   
   terminal before you start fconfig.   
   Btw: Can you type the \ in your terminal on the command line?   
   Btw2: Can you type the \ in other more free text fields, like the Comment   
   field of an area?   
      
   If I set mine to 850, I can still enter the \ in fconfig.   
      
   There's also the windows keyboard/language settings you could play with.
