   No it wasn't a silly question...   
      
   If I try to dial a number in FD terminal using alt-P, alt-d or now alt-m it   
   doesn't dial ... I get a modem error.... when I say error I mean FD shows a   
   dialog box that says modem error.... then it starts the 10 second clock to   
   repeat this problem. If I put the modem speaker on I can hear it dial a few   
   numbers, 11 being the magic amount of numbers, and the attempt fails...   
      
   NOW....   
   if I'm in the terminal window and manually type the numbers in... ATDT(then   
   the number) hit enter it dials the number and connects.   
      
   Hmmmmm....   
      
   I may start looking at the fossil I'm using, I'm currently using X00, the one   
   that came with my version of FD...
