In theory, it did no damage.              A "torpedo" is also railroad slang for a small explosive device that would       be set out on the tracks to warn oncoming trains that another train was       unintentionally blocking the tracks (due to mechanical issue, accident,       etc.). The noise would alert the crew that they needed to prepare to stop       quickly.              I am guessing that those are not often used now in the age of electronic       signals, radio, etc., but they were used in the steam era.              Since I would not expect a young child to be putting those on the track, I       could only assume it was firecrackers or the like because the author       mentioned that the 4th of July was soon. Either that or the kid had got       ahold of some railroad explosive devices he should probably not have.              Mike                      * SLMR 2.1a * OPCODE: MWAG = Make Wild-Assed Guess       --- SBBSecho 3.07-Linux        * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105)       SEEN-BY: 1/19 123 15/0 2 16/0 101 19/36 34/999 90/1 104/57 106/201       SEEN-BY: 116/18 120/544 123/130 131 140 153/7715 203/0 218/700 221/0       SEEN-BY: 222/2 227/114 229/354 426 1014 230/150 152 240/1120 2100       SEEN-BY: 240/5138 5832 5853 249/206 317 250/1 261/38 100 266/512 267/155       SEEN-BY: 275/100 282/1031 1056 291/1 111 317/3 320/119 219 322/0 757       SEEN-BY: 340/400 342/13 200 396/45 640/1321 712/848 801/161 189 2320/105       SEEN-BY: 2320/304 2454/119 3634/12 5020/715 1042       PATH: 2320/105 261/38 320/219 240/5832 229/426           |
