   The orange color came to Russia from French orange fruit. It so happened that   
   only the color remained.   
      
   Apelsin fruit (orange fruit) came from Holland - in Russia they thought it was   
   an apple, and they called it by the Holland word "appel". In this way we had   
   got the word "apelsin" and "apelsinovy cvet(color)" (which, however, is more   
   yellowish than orange color, in Russia).
