   I just try to find out the function of "the" article. Theoretically, it should   
   be used to single out a thing out of the row of other similar things.   
      
   For instance, there many regions or areas in Russia. _The_ area where I live   
   is located in western part of Russia.   
   (IMHO no article before "western" either, because "western" is a determiner   
   itself).
